Costco coming to northwest Arkansas, mayor says


LOWELL, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Major warehouse store chain Costco Wholesale Corporation submitted plans to open a store in northwest Arkansas.

Costco plans to open a store in Lowell, according to Mayor Chris Moore.

The big-box retail chain submitted a Large-Scale Development Plan (LDSP) on Thursday to be reviewed by city staff.

The location is proposed to be built on the southwest corner of Pleasant Grove Road and Concord Street. There is no word on an opening date.

Lowell Planning Commission will discuss and vote on the plans on Monday, May 15.

Costco’s two closest stores are in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Springfield, Missouri with another location in Tulsa expected to open later this month, according to the company’s website.
