California Attorney General Rob Bonta has been exploring a run for governor for several months, multiple sources have confirmed to KCRA 3. Bonta told the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday it’s something he’s “seriously considering,” and said he remains focused on serving as the state attorney general. “Quite a few folks have reached out to me encouraging me to run for governor,” Bonta told the Chronicle. A spokesperson for 50+1 Strategies, a political firm in San Francisco that is helping Bonta determine whether he’ll run, would not comment on or confirm Bonta’s comments to the Chronicle. Should Bonta decide to run, he would join the race that includes current Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and former State Controller Betty Yee. Kounalakis formally announced her campaign last month, while Yee has indicated she also intends to run. Gov.
