An 8-year-old girl was found dead and a second child was missing Sunday evening after both children were swept away in Kings River near Pine Flat Dam in Fresno County on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call came in around 2 p.m. reporting that children, ages 4 and 8, were in the water. KFSN-TV reported that deputies found the 8-year-old dead. He did not immediately respond to a request to confirm the death Sunday evening.
